The first New Zealand Postal Guide was published in 1868, with the next being published in 1874 as No 1.

The Guides were published quarterly (Jan, Apr, Jul and Oct) In 1879 the Jan edition (No 21) was republished in Feb (No 21) as a corrected edition In 1880 the Jan edition (No 25) was republished in Jan (No 25) as a corrected edition From October 1882 (No 32) the title became the Postal And Telegraph Guide

The scanning of the Guides currently to October 1890 (No 68) has been undertaken by NZ Post Volunteer Researcher Andrew McNiven.

The printed versions of the Guides were formally part of the NZ Post Office Library and are now housed at Archives NZ Wellington. The Guides are bound together in a yearly volume and are therefore difficult to lay flat for scanning.  An attempt has been made to get clear images for reading purposes rather than perfect presentation.
