Ulm tried (and failed) to get approval for a second official airmail
from Australia to New Zealand and so
announced instead that he would make a Goodwill Flight.
He had approval from the New Zealand Post Office for an official
airmail on the return flight which would then connect
with the first official
airmail from Australia to Papua New Guinea.
The flight to New Zealand left Sydney at 9.45 pm on May 11 and
landed in New Plymouth at 2.11 pm (12.11 Australian time).
They then flew to Wellington and arrived at 4.52 pm.
The crew was again G U (Scotty) Allan and R T Boulton and the
plane was Faith in Australia.
They carried an unofficial airmail which included 250 covers that
were postmarked in Sydney on 11 May and in Wellington
on 12 May as shown below.
The cachet gives full details of the flight and so must have been added
after arrival in New Zealand.
The covers were all numbered and signed by Ulm.
